COVID Update: The State of California announced on September 8 that Santa Clara County moved to the Red Tier (Tier 2) on the State’s new COVID-19 blueprint with reduced restrictions.  However, Santa Clara County continues to prohibit Indoor Masses under the local Risk Reduction Order of July 2.  The Diocese is obligated to follow the stricter County Public Health Order. Parishes will continue to provide livestream Masses as well as outdoor Masses for up to 60 people or drive-in Masses for up to 100 cars, following county public health guidelines. The Bishop continues discussions with key County officials about allowing indoor worship, ensuring safety and health requirements.

40th Anniversary Logo Contest: The Diocese of San José is looking forward to celebrating its 40th Anniversary in March 2021. As a part of our preparations, we invite all parishioners and friends to participate in designing a logo that will be identified with the upcoming anniversary celebrations.   See and share the official contest rules

Welcoming and Commissioning: Come and pray with Bishop Cantú as he affirms and commissions our Parish Catechetical Leaders as his delegates serve the Church.

A Message from Second Harvest

Distribution Sites Low Volunteer Turn Out

Hello Church Community,

I am contacting you because there is a great opportunity for volunteers living in San Mateo County and Santa Clara County to address a desperate need of hunger in your community by providing a healthy meal to anyone who needs one. Many individuals, families and senior citizens in your community have been adversely affected by the pandemic. Specifically, over 500,000 people are dealing with food insecurity. This is up from 250,000 pre-pandemic numbers. The good news is that Second Harvest of Silicon Valley has been able to respond to this need with healthy meals for anyone who needs them. However, we cannot meet this increased demand without the help of volunteers, who help us sort and distribute the food to the communities who need it. The greatest ask at Second Harvest is found at distribution sites in Santa Clara County specifically those listed below, providing healthy food to clients on a week or monthly basis.

Please visit our website at https://www.shfb.org to view all food distributions occurring in San Mateo County and Santa Clara County. Also if you know of a friend/family/neighbor interested in volunteer please feel free to share this information.

Thank you.

8-week Virtual Study on Racism, Justice, and Equality

Observing the unprecedented level of protests demanding racial equality, in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, Santa Teresa Church is calling all Catholic Christians to educate ourselves about racism.

Santa Teresa Parish will be offering an 8-week program beginning August 12th at 6:45 pm via Zoom, based on the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops’ Document – “Open Wide Your Hearts” addressing racism and the need to eliminate it.  Each session will be about 90-minutes and offer opportunities to learn, ask questions, share experiences, pray, sing, hear scripture, and reflect.

Racism is not easy for most of us to talk about, know what to say about it and, to be truthful, even want to talk about it at all.  We aim to make this series a safe place to explore our thoughts, attitudes, and emotions and faith beliefs about this touchy subject.  We urge you to seriously consider joining us as we begin this faith journey.

To join this conversation please  lynda@santateresachurch.com All are welcome!
