March 19, 2020
First and foremost, during this rapidly evolving crisis of the CORONAVIRUS-19, we want each and every one of you to know that you and your loved ones and, everyone around the world,
have been and will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. The current “lockdown” of many counties around the Bay Area mandating us to “shelter in place in our homes” is not only necessary, but, crucial in helping to stop
the spread of this horrendous virus.
As you know, beginning last weekend (March 14/15), our Diocese of San Jose, at the directive of Bishop Oscar Cantu, suspended all public Masses until further notice and, a dispensation from the obligation to
attend Mass during this time for all Catholics was granted.
Even though public Masses have been suspended, Fr. Tito and all priests throughout the diocese are celebrating Mass – INDIVIDUALLY BY THEMSELVES – on a daily basis. Priests
are duty bound to offer the Sacrifice of the Mass for the needs of the world and the church. This duty becomes even more compelling in this time of uncertainty and great challenge. (Know that Fr. Tito prays and will continue to pray daily Prayers of
Petition for our dearly departed loved ones whose names are written in the Mass Intention Book.)
Although our Parish Office is closed, we will be monitoring the office “voicemail” messages on a regular basis. So, if you have any questions
or concerns, please call the Office (408) 264-3600 and be sure to leave a message on the answering machine. We will try to respond to your call in as timely a manner as possible. In addition, it is our intent to “keep our lines of communication”
open with you as often and as best we can – via parish “eblasts” and, through our “Parish Website” at www.sanjosetransfig.com. Eblasts
will be sent via email address of Paula Ramos – email address: firstname.lastname@example.org Know that your replies and/or responses are always welcome and encouraged at any time!
Our Parish Bulletin (per Judy Bateman, Bulletin Editor
& Susan Dunn, “Webmaster”) A condensed version of the bulletin will be posted “weekly”- available for viewing on Saturday mornings on our website at www.sanjosetransfig.com.
Faith Formation Sessions (For all Grades, Youth Ministry & Sacramental Preparation) are suspended until further notice. (Paula Ramos, Director of Faith Formation will be corresponding directly via email messages to all parents, families and Catechists
as needed with updates, faith formation resources for at home use, etc.)
Parish Operations: General, On-Going, Required Costs:
With all public Masses being suspended until further notice, understandably, some have
expressed serious concern and are asking, “What is the best process to submit our weekly stewardship offering donations?” given that costs of parish operations still continue to accrue each day, week, month.
that there are some easy, creative ways to continue submitting your weekly donation contributions:
(1) For those who currently use Online Giving, nothing will change regarding submitting your weekly donations. If you haven’t yet created
an Online Giving account and, to make things a bit easier and much more convenient, you can log on to our parish website (www.sanjosetransfig.com) to setup an account, which takes only about 20 minutes or so to complete. If you need assistance, please call
or email Paula Ramos who will happily “walk you through the setup process” over the phone: (408) 823-3522 or email@example.com
(2) There is a “drop slot” in the front door of our Parish Office for your weekly stewardship donation
envelope (which will be checked frequently).
(3) Your weekly stewardship envelope can be mailed directly to our parish at: Church of the Transfiguration, 4325 Jarvis Ave., San Jose, CA 95118
We hope this letter has helped answer some
of your questions. As always, our deepest gratitude & appreciation to each of you for your kind cooperation and understanding during these difficult and trying times.
Yours In Christ,
Fr. Tito & The
